Bello Turji’ll be arrested soon, his commanders killed – CDS, Musa

The Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, CDS, has vowed to ensure the capture of notorious bandit leader, Bello Turji.

Musa said it’s only a matter of time before Turji is captured because some of his Commanders have been killed, while some of his close associates have been arrested.

He spoke while appearing as a guest on Channels Television’s 2024 Year-In-Review programme on Tuesday.

According to him: “The update is that since he knows we’ve been after him, he has been operating underground and we are conducting operations.

“What we have been doing, of recent, is that we are picking everybody close to him; all those giving him support in one way or the other, we have picked them, we have killed his commanders. It’s just a matter of time.”

The CDS also disclosed that over 120,000 terrorists have surrendered in the North-East.

He noted that some of them were forced into insurgency.

Simon Ekpa: Nigeria submits extradition requirements to Finnish govt

The Nigerian government has formally submitted the necessary requirements to the Government of Finland for the extradition of Biafra agitator, Simon Ekpa.

This was disclosed by the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, on Channels Television on Tuesday.

Musa said: “Well, I’m sure he’s cooling off somewhere.

“Legal action will be taken accordingly. I don’t want to say too much, but I’m glad he’s been arrested.

“The Federal Government has provided most of the required documentation to the Finnish Government, so I’m confident the right steps will be taken.”

In November 2024, Finnish authorities arrested Ekpa along with four others, on suspicion of involvement in terror-related activities, including incitement to violence and financing terrorism.

The Lahti District Court in Finland ordered Ekpa’s remand based on probable cause for public incitement to commit a crime with terrorist intent in Nigeria.

The separatist leader is accused of using social media to promote separatist propaganda and violently advocating for the secession of southeastern Nigeria.

Abia monarch accuses Bishop of destabilizing community

The traditional ruler of Okai Item, Bende LGA of Abia State, Eze James Ogbonnaya has appealed to Governor Alex Otti to intervene in a looming crisis in his community.

The traditional ruler, who addressed journalists in Umuahia, on Tuesday, together with his Prime Minister, alleged that some thugs in Okai who were loyal to Methodist Church Bishop, Rt Rev Sunday Onuoha were harassing him and some other members of the community.

He alleged that his role as a traditional ruler has been hijacked by some persons in the community.

Eze Ogbonnaya who also claimed that those fighting him were planning to install a factional traditional ruler in Okai.

“I appeal to Governor Alex Otti and the Methodist Prelate to intervene and save my community from a major crisis.

“All I am saying is that my life is now in danger. I am afraid of these people,” Eze Ogbonnaya cried out.

The monarch further denied the allegations that he protected a Pastor who was implicated in homosexual activity in his community, explaining that he immediately expelled the Pastor from the community.

Also, the Prime minister of Okai Item, Igwe Kalu alleged that his life and that of his aged parents were also under threat.

Kalu, who is a traditionalist and youth leader of All Progressives Congress, APC, claimed that he escaped assassination on December 29 when some thugs stormed his home in Okai Item and destroyed his house and many economic trees at about 1 am.

He appealed to Governor Alex Otti and security agencies to save him from danger.

But when contacted by DAILY POST on Tuesday for reaction, Bishop Onuoha dismissed the allegations, describing them as “expired lies” and “laughable” claims.

Onuoha said that anybody who knows him will understand that the allegations were all lies.
