Russia early Wednesday morning launched a drone strike on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, injuring no fewer than three people and damaging buildings in two districts.
City officials said explosions boomed across the morning sky shortly after Ukraine’s air force warned of drones approaching the city.
According to Mayor Vitali Klitschko, air-defences were repelling an enemy attack, and that two floors of a residential building had been partially destroyed in the strike.
Klitschko added that debris had also damaged a non-residential premise in another neighbourhood.
Recall that Russia has carried out regular air strikes on Ukrainian towns and cities far behind the front line of its nearly three-year-old invasion.

New Year: Say no to corruption in 2025 – EFCC tells Nigerians
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has warned Nigerians to desist from corrupt practices this year 2025 and remain resolute in their fight against corruption.
The chairman of the commission, Ola Olukoyede, who gave this warning on Tuesday, said the nation’s progress and development depend on collective efforts to combat economic and financial crimes.
The EFCC boss, in his New Year message to the citizens, stressed that rejecting corruption was key to improving the quality of life for all Nigerians and advancing the economy.
The anti-graft agency chair urged citizens to seize the opportunities the New Year brings to recommit to values of transparency, accountability and integrity.
“We can make any progress and development we want for our nation to happen by our support for anti-corruption initiatives.
“The new year is offering us fresh opportunities to recommit ourselves to the ideals of transparency, accountability and probity.
“The commanding heights of the economy and improvement in our lives can only be driven by our dedication to integrity and accountable conduct,” he said.
Olukoyede assured Nigerians that the EFCC was poised to surpass its achievements in 2024, while promising that the officers will remain relentless in their pursuit of justice.
“Our work is more than a vocation but a patriotic calling. We know this and will always offer our best to move the nation forward.
“2025 will be another year of bringing towers of corruption down. Our focus is set and our commitment is total,” he added.
