Taraba College of Agric confirms arrest of suspected criminal

Authorities at the College of Agriculture, Science and Technology, Jalingo, Taraba State, have confirmed the apprehension of a suspected criminal who has been terrorising the institution.

The arrest, which DAILY POST learnt took place on Friday night, was said to have been made possible by the security personnel of the college.

Confirming the arrest on Saturday, the Provost of the College, Yakubu Garjila, said the suspect was arrested at about 7pm Friday, on the college premises.

The college security personnel made the arrest.

Applauding the college’s security, he informed that the suspect had been handed over to the police for proper interrogation.

Noting that valuables belonging to both staff and students have been disappearing from the school premises following the activities of hoodlums, he asked the state government to come to the aid of the institution.

He said the institution is in dire need of perimeter fencing to protect it from intruders.

Some of the students who claimed to have been sleeping in the school hostels with their eyes open said fencing the school would go a long way to prevent or reduce the invasion by criminals.

Although the Police Public Relations Officer, PPRO, could not be reached for comments at the time of filing this report, a senior police officer from the Ardo-Kola division where the institution is located confirmed the arrest made by the college security personnel.
