Military denies knowledge of community negotiations with terrorists
The Nigerian Military high command has stated that it is unaware of any community in the Northwest negotiating or entering peace agreements with bandits and terrorists for protection.
Speaking at a press briefing in Abuja on Thursday, the Director of Defence Media Operations, Major General Markus Kangye, dismissed reports suggesting such peace deals.
He questioned why any community would resort to negotiations, given the sustained military offensives against terrorist groups.
“The military is carrying out its operations in line with established protocols for internal security. If any community claims to be seeking peace with bandits, the military does not support that,” Kangye asserted.
He further emphasized that joint military operations, in collaboration with hybrid forces and other security agencies, have remained relentless in tackling terrorism and organized crime.
Throughout the past week, troops conducted a series of combat patrols, raids, ambushes, clearance operations, and search-and-rescue missions, resulting in significant successes.
According to Kangye, several terrorists were neutralized, their collaborators were captured, and kidnapped victims were successfully rescued.

Jigawa police support 35 families of deceased officers
The Jigawa State Police Command has extended support to 35 families of fallen police officers, providing them with food items as part of its annual Ramadan Welfare Initiative.
This is contained in a statement by the Jigawa force’s spokesman, SP Lawan Shiisu Abdullahi.
The distribution, which took place on Thursday, March 20, 2025, was led by the Commissioner of Police, CP AT Abdullahi.
He emphasized the command’s commitment to the well-being of the families left behind by officers who died in the line of duty.
The CP also reaffirmed the police command’s dedication to ensuring that the families of deceased officers are not forgotten.
He prayed for the souls of the departed officers and asked for divine protection for their surviving family members.
He also appreciated the Command Management Team, Mosque Committee, officers, and other contributors whose generosity made the initiative possible.
On behalf of the beneficiaries, Hauwa Mamuda expressed gratitude to the Almighty, the Commissioner of Police, and the entire Jigawa Police Command for their kindness and continuous support.
