Ogun State House of Assembly, through its Committee on Environment has re-invited the management of CNBM Mining Investment Company to appear before it on Wednesday, 26th of March, 2025.

This followed the failure of the management team of the company to honour the meeting stated for Tuesday, 18th March, 2025, over a petition against the company by the Concerned Ijebu North-East indigenes.

The Chairman, House Committee on Environment, Samsideen Lawal, on Tuesday issued the invitation with a stern warning to the company to honour the next meeting to respond to allegations raised against it on the damage to public infrastructure and lack of corporate social responsibility to host communities.

According to the chairman, the allegation against the company, especially the damage caused to the Atan-Eruwon road constructed by the state government by heavy duty vehicles conveying quarry products from the company, weakening of building structure housing the General Hospital, Atan, as a result of mining activities, and lack of clear cut Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives to the host communities, need to be addressed by the company.

Lawal in company of other committee members, including Dickson Awolaja, Babatunde Tella and Seun Adesanya, warned that failure to appear on the next scheduled date would result in the Assembly invoking Section 129 of the constitution to call for a warrant to compel the company to comply.

The lawmakers stressed the need for all companies, especially mining industries in the state, to abide by the laws guiding their operations and accord priority to the welfare of their host communities through lawful business operations as well as ensure adherence to their corporate social responsibilities.
