Operation Safe Corridor has begun preparations to transfer rehabilitated ex-combatants to their respective national and state authorities for reintegration.
A strategic stakeholders’ meeting at the Defence Headquarters was convened to define the roles of state governments, establish sustainable resettlement plans, and launch community awareness programs to promote acceptance and facilitate reintegration.
The camp, located in Gombe State, provides former members of terrorist groups with a fresh start through comprehensive deradicalization and rehabilitation programs.
Since its inception, Operation Safe Corridor has successfully rehabilitated over 2,190 surrendered combatants from Nigeria, Niger, Chad, and Cameroon.
In addition to deradicalization, the program equips participants with vocational skills, improving their prospects for meaningful reintegration into society.
