Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has again said that he did not become a minister to sell lands in Abuja.
Wike said the only reason he became a Minister in the All Progressives Congress, APC, government was to support the administration of Bola Tinubu.
The Minister said this during the flag off of the construction of the 15.4-kilometer Pai-Gomani road project in Kwali Area Council on Tuesday.
“The government of President Ahmed Tinubu will allow everybody to benefit, to participate, to have the dividends of democracy,” Wike said.
Speaking further, the Minister said, “That is what I have told our people. Mr. President has promised you, give me time, be patient, I will get to all of you.
“All the Area Councils must have the impact of the government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who is the President and Commander in Chief.
“I want to say clearly let everybody hear me; I did not become a Minister to come and sell land. I took this position to support Mr. President to improve the infrastructure of the FCT. That is why every day, our concern is infrastructure and infrastructure, be it in the city or rural areas.
“Whether you are in PDP, whether you are in APC, whether you don’t even believe in any party, you must use this road.
“So, this road is very important. No matter how far it is, we will make out from time to time to see that we come here and see if the contractor is doing what he is supposed to do.”

Ondo Guber: IGP deploys DIG Alabi, AIG Igweh, bans VIP escorts from polling boots, collation centers
Ahead of the Saturday gubernatorial election in Ondo State, the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun has deployed DIG Sylvester Abiodun Alabi as the coordinating DIG for the Elections.
A statement issued on Thursday by the Force Public Relations Officer, Olumuyiwa Adejobi said the DIG is tasked with overseeing the implementation of the police security strategies to maintain law and order throughout the electoral period.
The IGP also deployed AIG Bennett Igweh and CP Tunji Disu as AIG and CP Elections respectively.
The statement added that there will be a restriction of all vehicular movements on roads, waterways, and other means of transportation from 6am to 6pm on Saturday the election day.
Adejobi said only those on essential services, such as ambulances, media officials, fire services, and other accredited media would be allowed.
The statement reads, “security aides and escorts attached to VIPs are banned from accompanying VIPs to polling booths and collation centres to prevent disruptions.
“Unauthorized security personnel and quasi-security agencies will not be permitted to operate during the election, and a strict ban on the use of sirens by unauthorized vehicles will be enforced.
“Special consideration will also be extended to individuals with disabilities, pregnant women, nursing mothers, and those facing mobility challenges to ensure that polling stations remain accessible.
“Designated election lines have been established for inquiries and reporting incidents. These lines will be publicized as soon as possible.
“The Nigeria Police Force urges citizens to report all suspicious activities that may threaten the integrity of the electoral process and reaffirms its commitment to fostering a safe and democratic environment as the state gears up for the elections”.
