The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, has pledged to prioritize the welfare and well-of the Nigerian Army.
He vowed to adopt a “soldiers first” approach to enhance their standard of living and morale.
General Oluyede made this commitment while addressing troops of the 26 Brigade in Dutse during his working tour of the formation on Tuesday.
He emphasized that efforts were being intensified to increase the Ration Cash Allowance (RCA) for soldiers, ensuring improved feeding conditions wherever they are deployed.
“We are working to increase the RCA to enhance your feeding and overall welfare. The Army is committed to ensuring that every soldier is well taken care of, no matter where they serve,” the Army Chief stated.

According to him, over 400 soldiers have already benefitted from the housing scheme, including those wounded in action during military operations.
General Oluyede charged the troops to train rigorously to maintain physical and professional fitness while remaining law-abiding and disciplined.
The COAS commended the troops for securing their area of responsibility and later inspected the newly completed Brigade Headquarters, ongoing projects, and commissioned the Brigade’s new Obstacle Course.
Earlier, the Commander of 26 Brigade, Brigadier General Joseph Mackintosh, briefed the COAS on the security situation within the Brigade’s area of responsibility, highlighting key challenges faced by the troops.
He assured that soldiers under his command would remain committed to ensuring safety and security in the region.
