The North-West Youths for Peace and Development has called on residents of the region to support the military in its intensified operations against terrorists, particularly notorious bandit leader Bello Turji and his group.
The group’s coordinator, Salihu Bello, made the appeal while addressing journalists on Wednesday in Abuja, urging communities to stand with security forces in the fight against banditry and terrorism.
“The military needs our help to restore peace and order in the North-West,”Bello stated.
“While our region is seeking ways to advance economically, here we are dealing with forces of retrogression. people who don’t want our region to make progress.”
He stressed the importance of public cooperation in ensuring the success of ongoing security operations, noting that criminal elements continue to thrive due to hidden networks of support within communities.
“Unfortunately, these criminals are our own people,” he lamented.
“How did we get here? Who are the people directly or indirectly supporting them? We must ask ourselves these questions and take action.”
Bello further urged residents to not only support but also appreciate the relentless efforts of the armed forces in tackling insecurity in the region.
“We once more appeal to our people to support the military,” he added
