Hot SourceThe Greater Accra Regional Minister, Linda Ocloo, has pledged to address the issue of over crowding in the various markets in Accra.
She said, the overcrowding has proven to be a great hindrance to the smooth operations oftrading in the markets which calls for attention.
For example, she hinted of her office drawing a boundary as a way of preventing traders from selling in the streets.
The Minister, made this pledge when a delegation from the Greater Accra Market Women Association, called on her to congratulate her on the assumption to the office of Greater Accra Regional Minister.
The Minister, also used the occasion to assure them of government’s commitment to ending the rampant fire outbreak in the various markets by deploying various measures including but not limited to market guards to safeguard lives and property .
The general state of sanitation in the various markets also came up for mention.
The Minister, who is also the Member of Parliament (MP) for Shai Osudoku, reiterated the high interest of government to ensure a clean and healthy environment .
She said it is the high commitment of government that has led to the re-introduction of the monthly Sanitation Clean-up excercise by President John Dramani Mahama.
In her remarks, the President of the Greater Accra Market Women Association, Madam Mercy Needjan, pledged their support to see her succeed.
On behalf of her colleagues, she donated food items to the Minister as a symbol of their trade and gesture.
