The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has unveiled a golden statue in Osun State in honour of Nigeria’s First Lady, Oluremi Tinubu.
Naija News reports that the golden statue was unveiled at the prestigious Obafemi Awolowo University in Osun State.
The Ooni of Ife also contributed a 2.7km Senator Oluremi Tinubu Way, a magnificent pavilion with the monument erected at the Obafemi Awolowo varsity grounds, all named in recognition of Mrs Tinubu.
In his remark, the monarch lauded Tinubu’s exemplary leadership, commitment to education, advocacy for women’s empowerment, and efforts towards fostering national unity.
He commended her, saying, “A golden statue is erected to immortalise her virtuous personality and to showcase the strength of a teacher, mother, and wife at the very heart of Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife.
“The biggest hostel and pavilion in the history of Obafemi Awolowo University, which bears her name, represent her efforts to create spaces for learning, development, and empowerment for all.”
Naija News understands that during the event, the First Lady also pledged ₦1 billion donation to the university’s horticultural landscaping.

Naija News reports that the event also marks part of the birthday celebrations and thanksgiving for Ooni Ojaja II, the Ooni of Ife.
Notable figures present to welcome the First Lady include Osun State Deputy Governor Kola Adewusi, Kafayat Oyetola (wife of the Minister of Marine and Blue Economy), Senator Jide Omoworare, and the Osun State Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Other esteemed guests include the wives of the governors of Oyo and Osun states, Tamunominini Makinde and Titilola Adeleke, respectively, as well as various traditional rulers.
