Taraba State Commissioner for Information and Reorientation, Hajia Zainab Usman, says the state government is not bankrupt.
Usman made this clarification on Wednesday while reacting to allegations of financial mismanagement and misappropriation against the state government.
According to her, the Internally Generated Revenue, IGR, of the state rose from N700 million at the start of the administration to over N2 billion by December 2024.
The Commissioner, in a statement, dismissed the claims of alleged misappropriation of N100 billion as outright falsehoods with no factual basis.
“Rather than diverting funds, the administration has been servicing inherited loans while simultaneously executing major infrastructural projects,” she said.
Usman noted that the implementation of the N70,000 new minimum wage was proof of the state’s financial stability, countering claims that no projects had been executed by the state government and listing several completed and ongoing infrastructure projects.
