Plateau State Commissioner of Police, Emmanuel Adesina, has announced the arrest of 26 suspects for various offences, including two individuals linked to the brutal killing of a National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, Safwan Adamu Fade, in Pankshin Local Government Area of the state.
The suspects, identified as Samuel Dang Kat and Zatshinen Wubwerwe, were apprehended following an investigation into the attack that led to the death of Fade, who was serving at the Federal College of Education (FCE), Pankshin.
According to the police, the incident occurred on January 22, 2025, when a group of hoodlums stormed the Pankshin Township Stadium and attacked the corps member, leaving him severely injured.
A local resident, Umbule Boreng Reuben, reported the case to the police the following morning.
“Upon receipt of the report, I immediately directed the DPO of Pankshin Division to lead a team of policemen to the scene where the victim was quickly rushed to the hospital for medical attention,” Adesina said.
Fade was initially treated and declared stable but was later transferred to Jos University Teaching Hospital due to complications. He eventually succumbed to his injuries.
The commissioner assured that efforts were ongoing to apprehend other suspects who fled the scene, emphasizing the commitment of the police force to ensuring justice.
“The Plateau State Police Command will not relent in its efforts to ensure that all those involved in this heinous crime face the full wrath of the law,” he stated.
Adesina also commended residents for their cooperation in combating crime and urged them to continue supporting security agencies
