Transcript Delays: BUK launches investigation into bribery allegations
Bayero University, Kano (BUK), has launched an investigation into allegations of bribery linked to delays in the issuance of transcripts.
The university has assured stakeholders that measures are being taken to address the complaints and restore trust in its processes.
In a statement signed by the University Registrar, Haruna Aliyu, BUK acknowledged the concerns about the prolonged delays and unethical practices in the transcript collection process.
“The Management has noted with dismay the recent concerns regarding delays in the issuance of transcripts and the allegations of bribery associated with the process,” the statement read.
“We take these matters very seriously, and we want to assure you that we are committed to maintaining the integrity and trust of our university.”
To resolve the issues, the Registrar disclosed that the university has introduced measures to streamline the process, ensuring timely issuance of transcripts without undue difficulty.
“The Registrar’s office has implemented a series of measures designed to ensure that all students can receive their transcripts in a timely manner without encountering unnecessary challenges,” Aliyu added.
On the allegations of bribery, the university confirmed that a thorough investigation is underway, with a promise to take disciplinary action against anyone found guilty of unethical conduct.
The statement also called on graduates and stakeholders to support the investigation by reporting any suspicious activities or providing information about the bribery claims.

IOM repatriates 180 stranded Nigerians from Libya
The International Organization for Migration, IOM, in conjunction with the National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA, Lagos Territorial Office, has repatriated a total of 180 Nigerians stranded in Libya.
In a statement on Friday, NEMA disclosed that the returnees arrived at Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos at approximately 7:30 pm on Wednesday, aboard a charter flight operated by Al-Buraq Airlines.
They included 67 adult females, 55 adult males, 24 female children, 18 male children, and 16 infants.
According to the statement, the Nigerian Immigration Service, NIS, conducted a biometric profiling of the returnees to ensure proper documentation and support.
In the same vein, various government agencies provided humanitarian assistance to the returnees to aid their reintegration into society.
“The IOM continues to play a crucial role in assisting Nigerians stranded abroad, and this latest evacuation underscores the organisation’s commitment to protecting the rights and dignity of migrants,” the NEMA statement added.
