Mosque demolition will bring development- Gov Kefas to KYN youths in Takum
Governor Agbu Kefas of Taraba State has clarified that the proposed demolition of the Central Mosque in Takum local government council of the state is part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting development and improving the welfare of the Muslim community.
The governor made the clarification, on Monday through his Special Adviser on Muslim Religious Matters, Hussaini Isma’il, in Jalingo, the state capital.
In a statement, the Governor stressed that the decision has been well-received by many within the community, as it aligns with the state’s efforts to foster progress and unity.
He also warned the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, KYN, against politicizing the situation for personal gain, urging them not to distract the Muslim community in Takum.
“Any demolition that occurs is aimed at promoting the development and welfare of our Muslim brothers and sisters in Takum and beyond.”The statement read.
The Governor who also announced that the initiative has been welcomed by the community, dispelled the rumours surrounding the demolition, calling them baseless.
He reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to the Muslim population, urging citizens to continue supporting the administration through prayers and cooperation.
Kefas emphasized his administration’s vision of building a more prosperous and inclusive state for all residents.
The governor’s clarification follows concerns raised by the Kuteb Yatso of Nigeria, KYN, on Saturday, who raised alarm over the state’s urban development plans, which allegedly include the demolition of the Central Mosque.
According to the Kuteb Yatso Nigeria, KYN, the mosque is considered a key religious site for the local Muslimin Takum community.
But Governor Kefas reiterated that any demolition carried out will be in the best interest of the Muslim community, both in Takum and across the state.
“To all Muslim brothers and sisters across Nigeria, especially in Taraba and Takum local government councils, I encourage you to disregard any baseless rumours. This administration is dedicated to supporting the Muslim community here and throughout the state,” the Governor stated.
