The Osun State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to fostering peace and harmony, particularly in communities with a history of boundary disputes.
This disclosure was made by the state Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment, Kolapo Alimi, during the Olaojo Royal Family Day celebration at the palace of the Olufon of Ifon on Sunday.
Alimi further disclosed that the state government has pledged to prioritize measures to ensure peaceful coexistence across the state.
While underscoring the government’s dedication to addressing issues of communal unrest, Alimi pointed out ongoing efforts by Governor Ademola Adeleke’s administration to mitigate boundary-related tensions in Ifon, Ilobu, and Erin Osun—communities that have experienced recurring clashes.
The Commissioner emphasized the need for unity and cooperation among residents in the affected areas.
He said Governor Adeleke has embarked on a series of consultations with stakeholders to address the root causes of these conflicts.
“These efforts aim to find lasting solutions and promote understanding among the aggrieved parties.”
He warned that the administration would not allow any individual or group to cause communal unrest in the state.
“The administration has also reiterated its zero-tolerance stance on actions capable of inciting violence or disrupting public order. Measures are being put in place to ensure that no individual or group undermines peace in the state.”
DAILY POST gathered that boundary disputes in these communities have led to significant loss of lives and destruction of property, posing a threat to the overall peace and stability of the state.
The government has also identified these crises as a priority area requiring urgent and sustained intervention.
He said, “I want you all to know that without peace, we are not going to achieve anything. We should all see ourselves as one.
“We are brothers, and killing or fighting ourselves should not be the solution to our problems.
“The state government is working hard to put an end to this issue, and I can assure you that we will conclude very soon.
“We want peace in Osun, and the government will not allow anyone to cause unrest in our communities.
“This message is for the three communities, and I am hopeful that we will come together to resolve our differences,” Alimi said.
Commenting on the celebration, Alimi lauded the Olufon of Ifon, Oba Peter Ipadeola, for bringing members of the royal family together in celebration of their roots.
