Just In: Scores Dead, Injured In Violent Soldier-Bandit Shootout In Imo

A violent clash erupted between soldiers and bandits in the Ehime Mbano Local Government Area of Imo State, resulting in numerous fatalities and injuries.

The incident took place at the Aba branch in Ehime Mbano last night, as confirmed by sources speaking to The Nation.

“Some non-state actors attacked and killed some soldiers in the area yesterday.

“The whole place is on fire, and troops have taken over nearby communities,” a source claimed.

Panic swept through the area, causing residents to flee as the sound of gunfire filled the air, instilling fear and uncertainty.

“We are terrified. The sound of gunfire is still echoing in our ears. We don’t know what will happen next.We are worried, Ehime used to be a serene environment, we dont lnow what is happening,” said a resident, who wished to remain anonymous.

As of now, police and military officials have not issued any statements regarding the incident.

This shootout adds to a troubling trend of security incidents in Imo State, particularly within the local government area, raising alarms about the rising violence and its implications for civilians.
