BREAKING: Tinubu gives NEDC approval to deploy electric vehicles

President Bola Tinubu has approved the North East Development Commission, NEDC request to deploy the use of electric-powered vehicles to ease transportation challenges in the region.

The chairman of the commission, General Paul Tarfa (retd), disclosed this after a brief meeting with the Vice President at the Presidential Villa Abuja on Wednesday.

He said the commission is putting modalities in place to build a 5kVA or 10kVA solar-powered grid to bridge power supply gaps.

Beyond the electric vehicles that have been modified to carry more passengers and goods, electric tricycles are also expected to be deployed in the region.

The Nigerian Communications Commission, NCC, has announced that the linking of all phone numbers with NIN and SIM has been completed.

Executive Vice Chairman of NCC Aminu Maida declared this on Thursday while addressing attendees during the 2024 annual corporate governance conference taking place in Lagos.

“We have recently concluded the implementation of the federal government’s 2020 policy of linking every phone number to a NIN,” he said.

“Though it was a bit painful for Nigerians, I think we also need to appreciate what that does for us.

“Today, there is no phone number that we cannot associate with a verified NIN. Not just a number, but a number that has been verified.”
