10 year after shutdown, potable water restored in Kano
The Kano State Government, has restored supply of Potable water to Danbatta, Makoda and Minjibir of Kano North Senatorial District Local Governments after ten years of aaccute water shortage in the area.
The Commissioner for Water Resources, Umar Haruna Doguwa disclosed this during a tour to the three local government areas to assess the rehabilitation of the water trunck lines linking the areas and how potable water is being supplied to the communities .
Doguwa explained that out of the commitment of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf to provide all nooks and crannies of Kano State with portable drinking water, small water treatment plants at the semi urban centers have been fully rehabilitated and the supply of water has commenced in earnest .
He said water is now available at kunya villageand Wailari all in Minjibir local government area while efforts are in top gear to ensure that portable drinking water in been supplied to Danbatta Local Government.
” It was very unfortunate, all these villages have been without water for over eight years, despite their is the pipe born connections but negligence of the past administration led to the dilapidation of the water treatment plants ”
He said thorough inspection is currently ongoing on these villages to ensure that all the pipes that are rust as a result of not usage for a number of years were being rectified.
