Tinubu’s interventions reason for peace in Niger Delta — Momoh
The Minister of the Federal Ministry of Regional Development, Abubakar Momoh, says the Niger Delta is relatively peaceful because of the developmental interventions of the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
Momoh disclosed this on Friday at the commencement of the 2025 Ministerial Press Briefing in Abuja.
He identified the construction of roads, scholarships, and provision of power supply to areas without electricity in the region as interventions that have brought sustained peace to the Niger Delta.
According to him, the Nigerian government has been able to harness oil revenue from the region due to relative peace.
“I’m sure for the past year, you will agree with me that there is relative peace in the Niger Delta region. We must have the area of cases here and there. That is what the ministry is all about. To ensure that there is peace in that region so that oil can continue to flow and we continue to have money,” he stated while taking questions from journalists on the impact of the ministry on the Niger Delta.
He noted that the ministry will not hesitate to recommend the sack of the managing director of regional commissions under it if the need arises.
Recall that Tinubu in July last year created two new ministries, Regional Development and Livestock Development, to provide a dividend of governance to the regions.
