Reciprocal tariffs coming on Thursday – Trump
President Donald Trump of the United States has said that he plans to unveil reciprocal tariffs on Thursday.
But he gave no details about his latest tariff plan, which could take aim at every country that charges duties on US imports.
Writing on his social media platform, Truth Social, Trump said, “Today is the big one: reciprocal tariffs.”
It was not immediately clear the time Trump’s tariff plan would be unveiled.
Recall that the US President on Wednesday indicated that it could happen Thursday morning.
DAILY POST reports that the White House had earlier told reporters it would happen before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s White House visit.
It was gathered that Modi is scheduled to arrive at 4:00 pm (1900 GMT).
Trump’s latest round of market-rattling tariffs has ratcheted up fears of a widening global trade war and threatened to accelerate US inflation.
The Republican, who took office January 20, has already announced tariffs on all steel and aluminum imports beginning on March 12, imposed 10 percent tariffs on goods from China, and imposed a 30-day hold on tariffs on goods from neighboring Canada and Mexico.
