Olumide Akpata, the Labour Party candidate in the Edo State governorship election has stated that the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has no excuse to fail in conducting a transparent election.
Akpata stated this on Saturday after he cast his vote at polling unit 11, ward in Oredo Local Government Area of the State.
Akpata, who arrived around 10:30 am at his polling unit 11, also expressed satisfaction with the voting process.
“I was given my ballot paper. I thumb printed where you would imagine I would thumb print.
“Everything went well. I want to hope that this is the experience of every Edo voter. I’m going to wait for feedback around the State, it’s 192 wards. We are hopeful that this will be the experience of every Edo voter,” he said.
Akpata further called on INEC to ensure there’s a level playing ground for all the candidates.
He said: “And I am calling on INEC that the playing field should remain neutral. Nobody should be given undue advantage.
“This is an off-cycle election. INEC has no excuse.”
