Bauchi assembly investigates N1BN spent on children nutrition
The Bauchi State House of Assembly has launched an investigation into the spending of over N1 billion allocated for child nutrition, following a troubling rise in malnutrition among children in the state.
This decision was made during a two-day advocacy and sensitization meeting, where members voiced concerns over the lack of progress in improving child nutrition, despite nearly 100% of the allocated funds being released in previous years.
Speaker, Abubakar Y Suleiman called the situation “worrisome” and instructed the House Committee on Food and Nutrition to investigate the issue and determine the root causes behind the ongoing problem.
The assembly’s investigation aims to tackle the growing concern over the high rates of malnutrition among children in Bauchi State.
