The All Progressives Congress in Edo State has called for investigation into the allegation by a member of the Integrity Group within the party, Prince Emmanuel Odigie, over an allegation that the Presidency was planning to rig the governorship election.
The APC’s director of publicity, Edo Governorship Campaign Council, Comrade Orobosa Omo-Ojo, who made the call in a statement at the weekend, said it was worrisome to allege that the Presidency had concluded plans to rig the election in favour of the APC governorship candidate, Senator Monday Okpebholo. Odigie has been critical of Okpebholo.
He reportedly made the allegation on Arise TV interview on Thursday, August 15.
Omo-Ojo said in the statement, “Our party and indeed Nigerians are concerned about the highly inflammable and inciting words the said Odigie used in his interview with Arise Television.
‘People are calling for the military and people are plotting how to truncate democracy, President Tinubu must be careful,’ These were the exact words used by Odigie.
“Nigerians are also concerned about the reckless heinous plan by Odigie and his group to discredit the yet to be held September 21, 2024 governorship election in Edo State.
“In the light of the danger Mr. Emmanuel Odigie has become, the APC and indeed Nigerians are requesting for a thorough investigation of all his allegations,” he said.
