Imo State Government has informed citizens of the State to disregard the rumour circulating on social media announcing the resignation of the Managing Director, Imo State Oil Producing Area Development Commission (ISOPADEC) Charles Orie.
In a press release from the desk of the Commissioner for Information, Public Orientation and Strategy, Declan Emelumba, he said the purported resignation was false and misleading.
Emulumba stated that Chief Orie’s tenure as chairman of the Commission had long expired, and that the Governor of the State, Hope Uzodinma did not renew it.
He added that Orie could not have resigned from a non-existent position since his tenure was not renewed.
The Commissioner further stated that while the State Government has no issue with Chief Orie, it was necessary to put the records straight so as not to mislead members of the public.
“The truth of the matter is that Chief Charles Orie’s tenure as Managing Director of ISOPADEC was not renewed. He, therefore, could not have resigned,” he stressed.
