Lagos Market Fire: KWASSIP compensates affected Kwara traders

Kwara State Social Investment Programme (KWASSIP) has disbursed N32 million to Kwara indigene traders in Lagos State, whose businesses were affected by the recent inferno at the popular Dosunmu Market.

At the presentation of the cheque at the KWASSIP office in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, on Thursday, KWASSIP General Manager, Dr. Abdulwasiu Tejidini, said Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq commiserated with the victims over the incident, reiterating the governor’s continued support to all Kwarans.

“Today, we are presenting a cheque of N32.6 million to Kwara indigenes affected by fire in Lagos at Dosumu Market. This is a testament to Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq’s priority to the welfare of all Kwarans across the board, regardless of their locations,” he said.

Receiving the cheque, the Chairman of the Committee set up to receive the fund, Mallam Abdulganiyu Sebutu, expressed delight over the financial support for the affected members, describing it as unprecedented magnanimity.

Sebutu, accompanied by the Public Relations Officer of the Committee, Adelodun Iponrin, said the governor has indeed demonstrated to be the father of not only the Kwarans at home but also those living abroad.

“Today, we are currently at the office of KWASSIP to receive the N32.6 million, graciously given by Governor AbdulRazaq, as a support to our businesses affected by the recent inferno at Dosumu Market, Lagos State.

“We are short of words, as this came as a huge surprise to us all, at a time when we thought it was over. This, indeed, is a testament to the Governor’s people-oriented approach.

“On behalf of all the beneficiaries, we are grateful, and we pray that Almighty Allah will reward AbdulRazaq abundantly,” he said.
