Sparkle foundation intensifies fight against drug abuse

A significant milestone in the fight against drug abuse was achieved recently as Sparkle Foundation hosted a highly successful awareness event at the historic Oba Akarigbo Palace hall.

The event with the team “Drug and Sunstance Abuse: It’s impact on youths and the future of Nigeria”, aimed at raising awareness and educating the masses on drug and substance abuse, saw an impressive turnout from community members, stakeholders, and health professionals.

Among the speakers were the Commander, National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command, Mr Tijjani Rabe, represented by the deputy Commander, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mrs. Ronke Shoyombo among others.

The Chief Executive Officer (C.E.O) of Sparkle Foundation, Mrs. Olasimbo Ojuroye emphasised the need for community involvement and continuous education in combating the scourge .

“Our mission is to empower our community with the knowledge and resources necessary to prevent and overcome drug addiction. Todays event is a testament to our collective commitment to this cause,”she stated.

The highlight of the event was a speech by the Founder, Palatable Poison, a non governmental organisation, Alaka Olaniyi, and a survivor of substance abuse, who shared personal experiences and offered insights into the challenges and triumphs associated with addiction recovery. The heartfelt address left a lasting impact on the audience, underscoring the importance of resilience and support.

The success of the event was made possible by the unwavering support of our partners Bet9ja Foundation and Providus Bank. Their generosity and dedication to this cause have been instrumental in bringing about this impactful event. Sparkle foundation extends its heartfelt gratitude to the Oba Akarigbo , NDLEA Ogun State Command , SURPIN, Wellspring Rehabilitation Center, Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta, OOU, etc for their contributions.
