Zamfara APC Crisis Deepens As Another Faction Emerges

As the All Progressives Congress (APC) crisis in the Zamfara State persists, another faction has emerged.
It is led by a member of the House of Representatives, Hon Aminu Sani Jaji, who represents Kaura Namoda/Birnin Magaji federal constituency.
The new faction emerged yesterday when the chairman of the Sani Jaji-led APC faction, Aminu Abubake, declared at a press conference held at the party’s secretariat that they decided to create their faction because the leaders of the APC in the state failed to unite the members due to selfish interests.
The new leader of the APC faction said the state executive’s lack of stability and good leadership led to disunity among its members and later created some factions within the party.
According to him, efforts have been made from their side to ensure unity amongst the party members, but the leaders failed to listen to the calls.
“We did our best to draw their attention (party leaders) to the dangers of disunity within our great party. Unfortunately, they refused to listen to our calls”.
Abubakar expressed disgust over the party stakeholders’ recent meeting in Kaduna initiated by former governor and incumbent minister of state for defence Bello Matawalle but refused to invite any Sani Jaji supporters.
He stressed that the meeting was not held in good faith because Honorable Sani Jaji, one of the party’s stakeholders, was not invited.
“If Hon. Sani Jaji is not a stakeholder of APC in Zamfara State, who else can we call a stakeholder? For this reason, we have decided to open a new APC Secretariat in the state, and we reappointed the Vice Chairman of the party and the assistant Secretary to take charge until after the election of the new executive members.”
He called on other party executive members to stop claiming to be the leaders of the APC in the state.
With this development, the APC in Zamfara State has now been factionalised into three, with Senator Abdulaziz Yari/Bello Mohammed Matawalle faction, Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa faction, and Sani Jaji group.
