The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, has felicitated the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, ahead of her 64th birthday on Saturday.
The Speaker, in a congratulatory message issued through his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Musa Abdullahi Krishi, extolled the virtues of Senator Tinubu, saying she is a trailblazer.
While noting her contributions to politics and governance in the country, the Speaker noted some of the First Lady’s laudable initiatives since her husband’s assumption of office last year.
“On this special occasion of the First Lady’s 64th birthday, I join millions of our citizens to celebrate with her and the first family.
“Senator Oluremi Tinubu has been an admirable wife to our president, an accomplished lawmaker, a formidable force in the ruling All Progressives Congress, and a role model to women aspiring to lead in politics and governance. She has paid, and still pays her dues in service to our fatherland,” Speaker Abbas said.
The Speaker wished the First Lady more fruitful years and sound health.

The Nigerian Exchange Limited continued its bullish run as investors added N314 billion in profits to their portfolio on Thursday.
The market capitalization, which opened at N56.133 trillion, gained N314 billion or 0.56 percent to close at N56.447 trillion.
The All-Share Index also rose by 0.56 percent or 545 points, to close at 98,230.92 points, in contrast to 97,685.64 points posted on Thursday.
Sustained interest in Geregu, FBN Holdings, Access Corporation, and Fidelity Bank, alongside Oando Plc, and United Capital, among other advanced stocks, drove the market’s positive performance.
Consequently, the Year-To-Date (YTD) return increased by 31.37 percent.
Market breadth also closed positive with 28 gainers and 26 losers on the floor of the Exchange.
On the gainers’ table, Sky Shelter Fund Plc led by 9.99 percent to close at N179.45, and Honeywell Flour followed by 9.96 percent to close at N5.41 per share.
Meyer Plc advanced by 9.95 percent to close at N6.41, Academy Press increased by 9.89 percent to close at N2.89, and Caverton appreciated by 9.68 percent to close at 3.06 per share.
On the flip side, Northern Nigeria Flour Mills led the losers’ table by 10 percent to close at N39.15, and Berger Paints trailed by 9.81 percent to close at N21.60 per share.
Deep Capital Management and Trust Plc lost 9.68 percent to close at 84k, Livestock decreased by 9.09 percent to close at N2.40, while Omatek went down by 9.09 percent to close at 65k per share.
However, analysis of the market activities showed trade turnover settled lower relative to the previous session, with the value of transactions down by 19.49 percent.
A total of 361.30 million shares valued at N7.57 billion were exchanged in 9,627 deals, compared with 471.30 million shares valued at N9.40 billion in 12,061 deals traded in the previous session.
Meanwhile, JapaulGold, for the third time in a row, led the activity chart in volume with 64.04 million shares, while Geregu led in value with deals worth N1.34 billion.

As Nigeria celebrates its 64th independence anniversary, the Senate Leader, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, has declared that “there is no better time to review our federal governance structure than now with a view to creating a federation that is more efficient, functional and responsive.”
Senator Bamidele charged all leaders—political or socio-cultural, religious or traditional, community or professional—”to close ranks and come up with consensus on how to end heinous challenges undermining our collective prosperity, national harmony and political stability.”
In a statement released on the anniversary by the Directorate of Media and Public Affairs in his office, the Senate Leader said at this trying time in the nation’s history, they “must be deliberate to decisively address what easily divides us and heats up our polity in order to build a resilient federation that works for all.”
He maintained that such a united front has now become imperative at this auspicious time when the review of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) is underway at the National Assembly.
“We have already received 37 fresh memoranda from different interests nationwide. We are also revisiting 16 constitution alteration bills inherited from the Ninth National Assembly. Before public hearings on the constitution review take off in January 2025, we are open to more memoranda from all interests.
“Among others, we have received memoranda on the need to establish state police; adopt diaspora voting; entrench financial autonomy for local government councils; deepen independence of the judiciary; provide special seats for women in the National Assembly and State Houses of Assembly; and create the National Council of Traditional Rulers.
“More memoranda are welcome. The process for the review of the 1999 Constitution is unambiguous as enshrined in Section 9(2)(3). It is a collective approach that requires the input of not only the federal and state legislature but also the contributions of all interests across the federation.
“As we proceed with the review, we promise not to leave any interest behind in the task of forging a new path for our beloved fatherland. And Nigeria shall be better for it,” he stressed.
The Senate Leader added: “After 64 years of political independence and 110 years of corporate existence, onus now rests upon us all to focus our energy and intellect on what majorly unites us as a federation rather than what will further divide us along our ethno-political and religious fault lines.”
