‘You’ll find bad things’ – Trump instructs Elon Musk, DOGE to review Pentagon spending
United States President Donald Trump on Friday said billionaire businessman, Elon Musk and his Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, team will be taking a close look at Pentagon spending to search for potential waste and fraud.
Trump expressed confidence that Musk and DOGE will find some things that are pretty bad in the Pentagon.
“Pentagon, [the Department of] Education, just everything. We’re going to go through everything,” Trump told reporters during a press conference at the White House.
“It was so bad with what we just went through with this horrible situation we just went through [at USAID], and I guess 97 precent of the people [there] have been dismissed.
“It was very, very unfortunate. You are not going to find anything like that [at some of the other agencies], but you’re going to find a lot. And I have instructed him [Elon Musk] to go check out Education, to check out the Pentagon, which is the military.
“And you know, sadly, you will find some things that are pretty bad.
“But I don’t think proportionally, you are going to see anything like we just saw at USAID.”
DAILY POST reports that Trump had officially established DOGE through an executive order on January 20, the day of his inauguration.
Its purpose is to “implement the President’s DOGE Agenda, by modernizing Federal technology and software to maximize governmental efficiency and productivity,” according to the directive.
Musk, who is leading the organization, has been designated a “special government employee.”
He and his team have been making headlines with their controversial probes of organizations like the United States Agency for International Development, which is now being gutted amid accusations from the White House of wasteful spending and fraud.
The DOGE team is also turning its attention to other agencies.

Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo State has announced readiness towards ensuring prompt implementation of the new national minimum wage of N70,000.
The decision, according to the Governor, followed the comprehensive discussion the government held with the State Chapter of the Nigeria Labor Congress.
In a media chat with journalists at the Government House , the Governor said that the move was aimed at mitigating the negative effects of inflation that led to the high cost of living in the country.
Governor Uzodinma emphasized that his administration was committed to enhancing the well-being of the State’s workforce amid economic stagnation.
He also said that the new policy demonstrated his administration’s dedication to ensuring that workers received fair compensation for their contributions towards economic progression of the state.
The Governor urged the State Civil Servants to boost their productivity and dedication to delivering what he described as high-quality services to the people of the State.
“In line with our commitment to Imo workers, I held a productive meeting with the leadership of the Nigerian Labour Congress (NLC) in the State to draft modalities for the swift implementation of the new national minimum wage for the State workers.
“The discussion progressed smoothly and I am optimistic that with the pace we have set, the implementation of the new wage structure will commence in no distant time,” he assured.
Confirming the new development, the State Chapter Chairman of the NLC, Comrade Chigemezu Nwigwe expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to workers’ welfare, noting that plans were underway to implement the new wage structure.
