A law firm, Deji Adeyanju & Partners, has alerted the Inspector General of Police (IGP) on the deteriorating health condition of its client, Mr Chizorom Harrison Ofoegbu, popularly known as Ijele, who has been in detention since March 19, 2024, at the Nigeria Correctional Centre (NCC), Ikoyi, Lagos State.
According to the firm, Ofoegbu, who was in detention at the instance of the Nigeria Police Force over alleged civil dispute, is gravely ill. He had reportedly been coughing up blood and lacked medical facilities within the NCC to restore his health.
Updating journalists on the matter in Abuja, yesterday, Silas Onwugbonu of Deji Adeyanju & Partners expressed fear that the client could die without access to medical facilities.
He urged the IGP to direct his officers to respect court orders and desist from further persecution of the client.
