AAC: Nigeria Win Gold In Women’s 4x400m Final

The quartet of Ella Onojuvwevwo, Patience Okon-George, Esther Elo Joseph and Omolara Ogunmakinju won gold
in the women’s 4x400m at the African Championships in Douala on Wednesday.

The team clocked a time of 3:27.31 ahead of Zambia and Botswana to win the gold.

It was Nigeria’s only gold medal on the final day of the 2024 African Athletics Championship.

Nigerian women’s 4x400m have now won two of the continental titles on offer in 2024.

They won both the African Games and African titles in the same season.

Nigeria needed to run faster than 3:26.08 to overhaul Cuba and qualify for the Olympics.

Unfortunately it was not to be for the Nigerians as they missed out by over a full second.
