Lagos State Deputy Governor, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, has applauded the Chairman of Ejigbo Local Council Development Area (LCDA), Alhaji Monsurudeen Oloyede Bello, for keying into the THEMES plus agenda of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, reiterating the commitment of the Sanwo-Olu administration to invest in the future of children through providing essential educational infrastructure.
The deputy governor stated this, yesterday, at the commissioning of the Akinsanya Ajaloleru Nursery and Primary School, Oke Afa, Ejigbo.
Hamzat explained that the school was built due to the demand of the people of Ilamoshe for a public primary school to reduce the stress that children go through accessing education.
He stated that Education and Technology are the third pillar of the state government’s developmental plan, under the T.H.E.M.E.S Plus.
While commending the LCDA Chairman, the deputy governor thanked him for being innovative, imploring him not to relent.
Earlier in his welcome address, Bello explained that the newly commissioned school was part of his campaign promises. He stated that the aim is to revolutionise the education landscape in the area by providing an alternative to the costly private schools, thereby alleviating the financial burden on residents and making quality education more accessible.
The council boss pointed out that the school has enrolled over 350 pupils in the first three months of operation, adding that the aesthetic appearance of the building and the calibre of teachers deployed to the school by the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) forced many parents to withdraw their children from private schools.
He highlighted some of the projects his administration has executed to include the renovation of the Oke Afa low cost housing primary school, annual free Jamb and GCE to indigent students/youths, distribution of free note books and writing materials for all schools as he intends to commission many more projects like the Ultra modern council secretariat, lfoshi road, Modern Park Ejigbo, Morning Star Primary Health Center, Kashimawo Road, Falana Road and Moshalashi Alaba sSreet.
