Delta State Police spokesman, Bright Edafe has confirmed that a man was killed by a mob who wrongly accused him of stealing a phone
A mob has murdered a man after wrongly accusing him of stealing a phone in Delta state.

The spokesman of the Delta State Police Command, SP Bright Edafe, confirmed this sad development in a statement on Tuesday.

“Someone was accused of stealing a phone, a member of Anioma security watch mobilized his colleagues to beat him up till he died,” Edafe wrote on X.

“They ran away after killing him. Guess what????? The phone was found with the daughter of the woman who raised the alarm. Say no to jungle justice.”

Meanwhile, the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Olufemi Abaniwonda, had on Sunday ordered the arrest of a man who murdered his daughter.

Edafe announced this in a statement, adding that the sad and painful incident which occurred on Saturday was reported by the brother to the fleeing suspect.

He stated that CP Abaniwonda who is saddened by this barbaric act, has since ordered a serious manhunt for the fleeing suspect and assured members of the public that the suspect will be arrested and justice will be served.

The commissioner has also urged anyone with useful information that can lead to the arrest of the suspect to call the control room number on 0803684974 or report at the nearest police station.
