The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, has said President Bola Tinubu is committed to transforming Osun State through targeted investments in education, agriculture and health empowerment.
Idris stated this during a town hall meeting on the ‘Mid-term Achievements of President Bola Tinubu’s Administration’ in the South-west on Wednesday in Osogbo.
Represented by Mrs Isola Sola, the Head of the Federal Information Centre in the state, Idris said that education, healthcare and agriculture were part of the core pillars of Tinubu’s campaign promises.
The minister said that these three key areas had continued to shape Tinubu’s administration policies and actions since assuming office.
“Agriculture has been a strategic focus of the administration aimed at ensuring good security and empowering rural communities.
“The Federal Government is making efforts to ensure the development of rural and urban infrastructure, such as feeder roads and small-scale bridges.
“Support for agriculture is to increase food production and empowerment, and provision of credit facilities to SMEs, similarly entrepreneurship and supporting local economies,” he said.
Idris said that in the area of healthcare, the Federal Government, through the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCD), is partnering with the state government to upgrade six Primary Healthcare Centres to provide 24-hour services.
“In the last two years, PHC has been scaled to improve service delivery, while vulnerable populations, notably pensioners and persons with disabilities, have been enrolled in the state’s health insurance scheme.
“All these are done to ensure that Osun people can have access to healthcare when the need arises in expanding healthcare,” he said.
Idris said that the various support of the Federal Government had assisted the state to win $500,000 as the best-performing state in universal health coverage.
He added that all public and federal tertiary institutions in the state had benefited from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND). (NAN)
