Member of Parliament for Ningo-Prampram, Samuel Nartey George, has called for a review of the maximum age limit for enlistment into Ghana’s military services.

In a post on Wednesday, 8 October 2025, the legislator argued that the current age restrictions prevent many capable and physically fit individuals in their 30s from serving the nation.

“I honestly believe it is time for our beloved nation to re-examine the maximum age for enlistment into our military services,” he wrote.

According to him, individuals above the current age threshold still possess the physical strength and mental capacity to serve effectively in the armed forces.

“There are people in their 30s who are physically fit and sound enough to serve their nation. We must not deny them this opportunity simply because of their age,” he added.

Citing international precedents, Sam George suggested that extending the upper age limit to 35 years would better serve the aspirations of many young Ghanaians seeking to join the military.

“Let’s nurture their dreams and not kill it,” he concluded.
