Former Kaduna Central Senator, Shehu Sani, has reacted to the decision of President Bola Tinubu to suspend Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State for six months.

Sani said the forces planning to impeach Fubara can rest following his suspension.

Posting on X, Sani wrote: “The impeaching forces and the impeachment target can now rest for Six months.”

On Tuesday, Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers state during a nationwide broadcast.

Tinubu said he was “greatly disturbed about the political crisis” in the state and accused Governor Fubara of demolishing the State House of Assembly building.

He also suspended Fubara and his deputy, Ngozi Odu, for six months.

Tinubu also suspended all elected members of the House of Assembly of Rivers State and nominated Vice Admiral Ibokette Ibas (Rtd) as Administrator to take charge of the affairs of the state.

This decision comes hours after Tinubu met with his service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police at the Aso Rock Presidential Villa.
