The Katsina State Governor, Dikko Umaru Radda, has promised to construct a primary school and hospital in Mantau community, Malumfashi Local Government Area of the state following attacks by bandits.
In the same vein, the Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to end banditry in the state, providing necessary support to security agencies and introducing new strategies to combat the menace.
Radda, however, announced this when he visited the community to commiserate with the victims over the recent attack by bandits which claimed over 50 lives.
Radda, who cut short his medical leave to visit Mantau, said the state government would also construct a road from Karfi to the community to tackle transportation difficulties faced by residents and swift security response.
Assessing the destruction caused by the hoodlums, who razed houses and displaced hundreds of residents, Radda said the government would renovate all the houses destroyed by the assailants during the deadly invasion.
He announced an immediate relief of N500,000 to each household affected by the attack, adding that the state government would also rehabilitate the community mosque.
“We will construct a primary school and hospital in this community. We are going to also construct a road from Karfi to this place to ease transportation difficulties.
“Each family affected by the attack will receive N500,000. Our government will also renovate the community mosque to enable the residents to have a benefiting place for worship.
“Whatever you feel, I feel it in my heart. I too lost a brother to insecurity. That is why I assure you that this administration will continue taking decisive steps to restore peace.”
Radda also warned stakeholders against politicising insecurity and mobilising residents to protest against the government, saying “only collaborative efforts will end insecurity.
“Security is about saving human lives, not politics. Whoever stands in the way of peace, we will confront them, and In Sha Allah, we will succeed.”
Aliyu Renews Resolve to Tackle Banditry
The Sokoto State Governor, Ahmed Aliyu, has reaffirmed his administration’s determination to end banditry in the state, providing necessary support to security agencies and introducing new strategies to combat the menace.
Speaking at the 9th regular Executive Council meeting at the Government House, Aliyu emphasised his administration’s commitment to fully tackle banditry, which has crippled socio-economic activities in some local government areas.
“We have continued to provide the security agencies in the state with the necessary support to enable them curb banditry affecting some local government areas. We have equally injected new ideas and strategies that would, by Allah’s will, help us end banditry in the state,” he said.
He called for the support of all well-meaning citizens in the fight against insecurity and criminality, stressing the need for collective efforts to restore peace and stability in the state.
On contract management, Aliyu charged Commissioners to ensure regular inspection of projects under their respective ministries, assessing quality and progress.
He warned contractors that low-quality work or unnecessary delays would not be tolerated, emphasising that standards would not be compromised.
“The people of Sokoto State who massively voted for the APC deserve quality projects that reflect their mandate,” Aliyu said, adding: “We will not tolerate any form of incompetence or negligence from contractors.”
