The Osun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has described the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC’s criticism of Governor Ademola Adeleke’s re-election endorsements.

In a statement on Monday, the Osun PDP Chairman, Sunday Bisi described the Osun APC criticism as baseless and a sign of desperation.

Bisi also asserted that the APC’s position is a rejection of the people’s democratic will.

The Osun PDP chairman urged the opposition party to accept the overwhelming public support for Governor Adeleke.

He said, “The APC must purge itself of the arrogance of not recognising the will of the people. No amount of propaganda will negate the fact that Osun residents are solidly behind Governor Adeleke.”

Highlighting Adeleke’s achievements, the PDP chairman credited the governor with initiating and completing critical infrastructural projects, including roads and bridges.

Bisi argued that the APC’s failure in office left behind challenges that the Adeleke administration is now addressing.

“Osun people are not blind to the progress being made.”

Bisi who dismissed as unfounded the APC claims of teacher disengagement, noted that the APC failed to produce evidence of the alleged sack letters.

Outlining Adeleke’s strides in education, he explained that the administration “rehabilitated over 100 public schools, improved facilities, and is set to deploy newly recruited teachers. The Governor inherited an education sector in disrepair and has worked tirelessly to improve it”.

“In healthcare, about 200 Primary Health Centres (PHCs) have been rehabilitated and equipped with essential services. The APC should be blamed for mismanaging the $20.5 million World Bank grant meant for health infrastructure.

“It’s ironic that those responsible for neglect are now criticising the progress being made.”

The Osun APC had last week taken on the Ademola Adeleke led PDP administration in the state.

The APC in a statement by Kola Olabisi, its Director of Media and Information, criticised Adeleke’s recent endorsements for re-election.

Olabisi maintained that such endorsements cannot secure his position in the 2026 governorship election.

Olabisi, the APC’s Director of Media and Information, stated, “No amount of endorsements from any quarters could bring back a purposeless and rudderless administration.”

The APC accused Adeleke’s administration of mismanaging state resources, particularly criticising the accommodation of lawmakers in hotels due to inadequate planning during the renovation of their official quarters.

The APC questioned the lack of new teacher employment in public schools by Adeleke’s government.

The party also criticised the reported dismissal of 1,500 teachers and numerous health workers employed by the previous administration.

The party expressed concern over the potential long-term impact on the state’s education sector, noting that neighbouring states are hiring teachers while Osun has not employed any in over two years.
