Hot SourceThe Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has called for calm among the residents of Adenta and all road users throughout the constituency, especially those travelling along the Ashaley Botwe–Lakeside, Ntreh, and Commandos roads, among others.
In a statement issued in Accra on Tuesday, 21 October 2025, Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore expressed deep empathy with residents over the current poor state of the roads, acknowledging the frustration and inconvenience commuters face daily.
He, however, urged residents to exercise restraint and maintain confidence in President John Dramani Mahama’s transformative infrastructure agenda. This agenda commits to constructing 10 kilometers of roads annually in each of the 166 constituencies nationwide, with Adenta being a key beneficiary.
The Regional Chairman further disclosed that he has personally met with the Minister for Roads and Highways, Kwame Agbodza, to discuss the urgent need to rehabilitate and expand critical road networks within the Greater Accra Region, particularly in Adenta.
He revealed that even the road leading to his own residence in Adenta is in a deplorable condition, posing serious risks to motorists and pedestrians alike. He has already raised this concern with the Minister for immediate attention.
“We are fully aware of the challenges faced by our people, and I want to assure the good residents of Adenta that these issues are receiving the highest level of attention. I am confident that our government will soon make the people of Adenta happy with significant improvements in their roads, as we did in 2012-2016, such as the ARS-3rd Gate road; Aviation- Barrier Road; Adgirigano- School Junction Road, just to mention a few,” Mr Ashie Moore said
Mr Ashie Moore has called upon the Member of Parliament for Adenta, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), and the Constituency Chairman, Lomo, to engage with the Residents Associations of Lakeside, Ashaley Botwe, and adjoining communities on Sunday, to offer an official apology for any comments suggesting that residents should fix their own roads.
He emphasized that the NDC government under President Mahama does not condone political impunity or abuse of authority, reiterating that such remarks are inconsistent with the government’s commitment to responsible governance and freedom of expression.
“Our president frowns upon any act of political arrogance or insensitivity. Leadership must listen, apologize when necessary, and act in the best interest of the people,” Ashie Moore added.
In his concluding remarks, Mr Ashie Moore expressed optimism that the NDC’s consistent commitment to grassroots development, social justice, and infrastructure transformation will continue to consolidate Greater Accra as a stronghold of the NDC in the coming elections.
