Hot SourceTelecommunications giant MTN Ghana has renewed its commitment to the Oguaa Fetu Afahye with a donation of cash, airtime and other items to support this year’s festival in Cape Coast.
At a ceremony ahead of the celebrations, the Western and Central Regional Senior Manager of MTN, Prince Owusu Nyarko, presented GH¢40,000 to the Afahye Planning Committee, GH¢30,000 to the Oguaa Traditional Council, GH¢2,000 worth of airtime and a drinks hamper.
Mr Owusu Nyarko also announced that festival-goers and Cape Coast residents will benefit from special discounted data rates and bonus data bundles throughout the Afahye period. “We are here today to wish the Omanhen and the people of Cape Coast a successful festival.
“MTN has a good relationship with the traditional council so every Afahye, we come and pay homage. We are also having a gaming night and a musical concert at Chapel Square. We are giving all our customers who are coming to Oguaa a special data offer. All this is to make sure that we make this Afahye a very successful one,” he said.
The company will host a gaming night on Friday and a musical concert on Saturday at Chapel Square to entertain festival patrons.
Mr Owusu Nyarko stressed that MTN Ghana’s support for traditional festivals is part of its broader social responsibility programme. “We know the importance of festivals and the growth of communities. Such support strengthens the relationship we have built with the various communities. We are here today to wish the people a very successful festival,” he said.
He further indicated that MTN would set up stands at vantage points across Cape Coast during the celebrations to provide services and improve customer experience.
Receiving the donation, the Omanhen of Oguaa, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, expressed gratitude to MTN for the contribution and urged the telecommunications company to continue improving its service delivery.
