Hot SourceThe Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, has issued a nationwide call to Ghana’s church leaders to strengthen their spiritual partnership with government, share prophecies of national importance, and intensify prayers for the country following last week’s fatal helicopter crash.
In a statement dated 10 August 2025 and addressed to all ecumenical heads, Afriyie Ankrah, on behalf of President John Dramani Mahama, expressed appreciation to the clergy for their role in promoting peace, moral integrity, and unity.
He urged that any prophecy or spiritual insight with implications for political leadership, governance, national security, or public stability should be formally communicated to his office for urgent review and possible escalation.
“This is in the spirit of responsibility, discernment, and stewardship over the nation’s destiny,” the statement read.
The appeal comes in the wake of the recent helicopter accident, which claimed lives and involved government officials, military personnel, and executives of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).
Afriyie Ankrah called for focused prayers for:
President John Dramani Mahama
The Government and all state institutions
The bereaved families and the nation as a whole
“May the Lord comfort the afflicted, guide our leaders, and continue to preserve our beloved country,” he said, adding that the administration values continued partnership with faith leaders to promote peace and prosperity in Ghana.
