Hot SourceThe Kwara State Elders Caucus of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has expressed deep sorrow over the violent attacks that recently claimed lives in parts of Kwara North and Kwara South senatorial districts.
In a condolence message, the forum commiserated with families of the victims, particularly the people of Oke-Ode in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where 12 vigilante members were killed by suspected non-state actors.
The group also extended sympathy to Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq over the recurring security challenges that have affected innocent residents in the two senatorial zones.
In a joint statement signed by its Chairman, Kunle Sulyman, and Secretary, Hon. AbdulMumini Katibi, the forum applauded the governor’s proactive steps to combat insecurity.
According to the caucus, measures such as the recruitment of about 2,700 Forest Guards, enhanced support for vigilantes, inclusion of local security operatives in the State Health Insurance Scheme, ongoing consultations with stakeholders, and collaboration with the Office of the National Security Adviser, NSA, reflect a deliberate strategy to safeguard lives and property across the state.
The elders also called for continued vigilance, community cooperation, and federal support to ensure peace and stability in Kwara.
