Russia vs Ukraine: US suspends efforts to counter Russian sabotage
The United States’ national security agencies have halted work on a coordinated effort to counter Russian sabotage, disinformation and cyberattacks, easing pressure on Moscow as President Donald Trump’s Administration pushes Russia to end its war in Ukraine.
The immediate past President Joe Biden last year ordered his national security team to establish working groups to monitor the issue following warnings from the US intelligence that Russia was escalating a shadow war against Western nations.
The plan was reportedly led by the president’s National Security Council, NSC, and involved no fewer than seven national security agencies working with European allies to disrupt plots targeting Europe and the United States.
It was gathered that before President Donald Trump was inaugurated, his incoming administration was briefed by Biden officials about the efforts and urged to continue monitoring Russia’s hybrid warfare campaign.
However, since Trump took office on January 20, much of the work are said to have come to a standstill.
It was further learned that regular meetings between the National Security Council and European national security officials have gone unscheduled, and the NSC has also stopped formally coordinating efforts across US agencies, including with the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the State Department.

US judge finds Musk’s USAID cuts unconstitutional, blocks him from making more cuts
A United States federal judge on Tuesday blocked billionaire, Elon Musk and the Department of Government Efficiency, DOGE, from taking any more steps to shut down the US Agency for International Development, saying their efforts to close the foreign aid agency likely violated the US Constitution.
District Judge Theodore Chuang in Maryland, in a preliminary ruling, ordered Musk, a key adviser to President Donald Trump, and the agency Musk spearheads to restore access to USAID’s computer systems for its direct and contract employees, including thousands who were placed on leave.
The judgment came in response to a lawsuit by current and former USAID employees, one of several currently pending over the rapid dismantling of Washington’s primary humanitarian aid agency.
The executive chair of State Democracy Defenders Fund and lawyer representing the 26 anonymous plaintiffs in the case, Norm Eisen, said the decision was an important victory against Elon Musk and his DOGE attack on USAID, the US government and the Constitution.
Meanwhile, Trump, in an interview had told Fox News that his administration would appeal the ruling.
“I guarantee you we will be appealing it. We have rogue judges that are destroying our country,” Trump said.
The US president, on his first day back in the White House ordered a 90-day freeze of all US foreign aid and a review of whether aid programs were aligned with his administration’s policy.
Soon after that, Musk and DOGE gained access to USAID’s payment and email systems, froze many of its payments and told much of its staff they were being placed on leave.
