The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) will recruit 12,000 personnel over the next three years, as part of a nationwide expansion drive, with reduced recruitment costs and strict measures in place to combat fraud.
Deputy Defence Minister, Brogya Genfi, announced that the initiative aims to strengthen the country’s defence and security capacity.
According to Mr Genfi, the exercise, which begins this week, will see 12,000 new personnel enlisted over the next three years.
He explained that, in line with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to affordability, accessibility, and fairness, the cost of recruitment forms has been reduced by more than 40% compared with the previous exercise.
Recruitment will be conducted across all 16 regions to ensure equal opportunity and inclusion, he added.
Mr Genfi stressed that the process will be transparent and strictly merit-based, cautioning the public against fraudulent recruitment schemes.
“Recruitment into the Ghana Armed Forces is not for sale and will never be for sale under our #EagleEyes watch. Any individual or syndicate involved in fraudulent recruitment schemes will be dealt with without mercy,” he warned.
The Deputy Minister further clarified that no recruitment will take place via social media platforms. Requirements, procedures, and regional recruitment centres will be published on the Ministry of Defence and GAF websites, as well as in selected newspapers and electronic media.
He emphasised the government’s vision of building a disciplined, inclusive, and professional military force.
“We are building a force that reflects the strength, discipline, and unity of Ghana,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Acting Director-General of the Department of Public Relations (DPR) for the Ghana Armed Forces, Captain Veronica Adzo Arhin (Ghana Navy), has stated that the 2025 Enlistment/Recruitment Exercise will commence in the coming days at the regional capitals of all 16 regions.
The exercise will provide equal opportunity for all potential applicants nationwide.
In a statement dated September 29, 2025, issued from General Headquarters, Burma Camp, Accra, Captain Arhin announced that the enlistment/recruitment exercise will be officially announced through Ghana Armed Forces platforms, including gafonline.mil.gh and gafrecruitment.mil.gh, as well as the Daily Graphic and Ghanaian Times newspapers.

The GAF, however, warned the public that any purported recruitment links on Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, or other social media platforms inviting applicants for protocol recruitment are scams and should be ignored.
“Additionally, no such enlistment or recruitment invitation will come from any member of the Ghana Armed Forces or its High Command. The GAF counts on the cooperation of the general public in this endeavour”.
