A GROUP of prominent Lagos State indigenes, under the aegis of De Renaissance Patriots, has urged the state government to act immediately without further delay to address the environmental challenges occasioned by flooding, which it said, had become a yearly ritual in Lagos Island and other parts of the state, including Lekki Phase I.

De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, which made the plea, yesterday, in a statement jointly signed by its President, Adelani Adeniji-Adele and Secretary-General, Yomi Tokosi, a copy of which was made available to newsmen, said that the environmental implementations of the pending disaster and imminent flood-related problem would not be an every year scary situation that had disrupted lives, commerce and health of people in the affected areas if it had been properly mitigated.

Besides, the group also charged the state’s House of Assembly led by Mudashiru Ajayi Obasa and the Oba of Lagos, Oba Rilwan Akiolu, to raise their voices on the matter to save the situation.

De Renaissance Patriots Foundation, therefore, charged the state government to “create that access into the lagoon and stop water from the lagoon from coming inside,” now that the water had nowhere to go.

RELATEDLY, a non-profitable social group, Club Seventies Epe (CSE), has said that the Epe Division in Lagos State deserves more attention from the administration of Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu.

The newly sworn-in President of the club, Yusuf Yunus, made the remark while delivering his inaugural address after taking the oath of office.

Yunus, who appreciated God for the privilege to serve, described the task of reinventing, rejuvenating and promoting Epe as a collective responsibility of all members, noting that his primary focus is to enhance the welfare of members and the downtrodden in the community.

“We deserve more economically, politically and in terms of infrastructure. We shall use this opportunity to facilitate more development to our people. We shall not let the people down. We shall lobby Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration to look at Epe’s direction and also fulfill our mandate of making life better for the people of the division,” he said.
