The Commissioner of Police in Ekiti State, CP Joseph Eribo, on Wednesday, presented cheques over twenty three million, N23,849,554.24, to families and next-of-kin of 27 deceased and injured officers of the Command, under the Inspector General of Police’ Welfare Scheme.

The gesture, done on behalf of the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, forms part of the Group Life Assurance and Family Welfare support initiatives designed to assist families of officers who died or sustained permanent injuries in the line of duty.

Speaking during the presentation at the Command Headquarters in Ado-Ekiti, Eribo sympathized with the beneficiaries over the loss of their loved ones, describing the fallen officers as heroes who paid the supreme price in service to the nation.

He reaffirmed the commitment of the IGP to prioritizing the welfare of personnel and their families, adding that the Force leadership will continue to improve existing support systems for officers both in service and posthumously.

The Commissioner advised the beneficiaries to channel the funds into meaningful ventures that would sustain their households and honor the sacrifices of the departed officers.

The beneficiaries, in their remarks, expressed profound appreciation to the IGP and the Police High Command for the support, noting that the intervention would ease the burden on them as they rebuild their lives.

Senior officers including Deputy Commissioners of Police, Assistant Commissioners of Police and other top personnel joined the CP during the brief ceremony.
