Ebonyi Govt seeks European Bank partnership for railway line

Ebonyi State Government has sought the partnership of European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in the construction of a railway line in the state that would link Onitsha and Port Harcourt.

Governor Francis Nwifuru made the request at The Tunisia-Africa Investment and Trade Conference in Tunis, Tunisia, where he met the delegation of the EBRD on the sidelines earlier on Wednesday.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) is a group fostering the transition towards open market-oriented economies and promotion of private and entrepreneurial initiatives.

The governor also sought EBRD’s partnership for the revitalization of the moribund Nkalagu Cement Industry and other development projects.

Among the delegation from Ebonyi State to the Conference were the commissioners for Trade and Investment, Mr Elechi Elechi Nnannia, Commerce and Industry, Oguzorkanu Offia-Nwali, Agriculture and Natural Resources, Princess Nkechinyere Iyioku and Finance, Dr Leonard Uguru.
