The Olu of Makogi Kingdom in the Obafemi, Owode local government area of Ogun State, Oba Babatunde Sonola, has called on the state government to intervene and prevent bloodbath in the community following an alleged land grabbing activity.

Oba Sonola made the call during a media parley held at his palace, weekend, stating that the land grabbers under the disguise of hoodlums and cultists have been disturbing the community.

Narrating an incident, Oba Sonola alleged that over 200 land grabbers had invaded a farmland, shot sporadically and destroyed a rice farm.

Oba Sonola disclosed that the invasion was connected to the illegal possession and ownership of Ibokoland, lamenting that despite reporting the incident to the Ibafo division of the police, no move had been made.

He added that a petition had been submitted to the office of the Commissioner of Police at Eleweeran for the state command to act fast to prevent bloodbath in Makogi community.

The traditional ruler also alleged that one Sule Oloriodo and Alale who claimed to be the Personal Assistant to the state chairman of Articulated Motorcycle Owners and Riders Association of Nigeria (AMORAN), Ogun state branch, Taofeek Sokoya, aka “Danku” led the hoodlums to the community causing residents to scampering for safety.

He said, “According to my further findings, one of the hoodlums, one Alale who claimed to be the Personal Assistant of the state chairman of AMORAN that led his boys to the land.

“They alleged that they are on the mission from instruction of the Inspector General of Police, IGP, which I am sure that the information is not true, just name dropping to create fears on the innocent people”.

The monarch urged the state government to direct the state chairman of AMORAN, Otunba Sokoya to call his boys to order so as to prevent the possible breakdown of law and order in the community.

He also appealed that Governor Dapo Abiodun, directs all security apparatus to the community so as to stop the violence caused by the land grabbers.

When contacted, Taofeek Sokoya, also known as “Danku,” the state chairman of AMORAN, denied any involvement in or approval of any operations, dismissing the accusations as wholly untrue and inconsistent with his position, character, and AMORAN beliefs.
