The final funeral rites of highlife legend Daddy Lumba have been officially rescheduled to 13 December 2025, the Manhyia Palace has confirmed. The original date was 6 December.
A meeting held on 10 November 2025 at the Otumfuo Saamanhene Palace saw the appointment of a new funeral committee, led by Dadiesoabahene, tasked with overseeing funeral arrangements.
During proceedings, Daddy Lumba’s sister, Ernestina Akosua Brempomaa, requested a postmortem to determine the exact circumstances of her brother’s death. She asked that the burial and funeral be delayed until the test results were made available.
The Chiefs confirmed the police would handle the postmortem and stressed that the family should remain united to guarantee a dignified and befitting burial.
On the matter of the Great Oath performed by Akosua Brempomaa, the Asantehene has granted her pardon, while warning her against carrying out such rituals in future.
